PBT School: Mission
The Peak Ballet Theatre (PBT) is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit agency. Our mission is to provide various forms of dance instruction that meet the needs of both the casual dancer and the aspiring professional, to contribute to the public realm through community outreach and education, and to establish a world-class professional ballet company based in Colorado Springs.
The passion behind the mission…
- To offer a wide range of enriching, educational, and cultural dance classes year-round for children and adults in our community.
- To administer the professional ballet training young aspiring dancers need to be technically precise, rhythmically sound, as well as artful and spirited in movement.
- To provide pre-professional experience through performance opportunities for talented dancers, with an educational goal for audiences of all ages to have an insight into the training of these dancers, the process of a full length production, and the creation of classical and contemporary choreography.
- To enrich and thrill diverse audiences through performance rooted in classical ballet tradition as well as neoclassical, contemporary and avant-garde selections.
- To create an environment conducive to the discovery and creation of innovative choreography, design, music, multimedia collaboration, and gifted, passionate artists.
- To nurture the future of dance by granting merit and financial need scholarships to promising young students preparing for professional careers in dance.
- To educate and inspire a love of the dance to young audiences, locally, through outreach projects, movement programs in the public schools, and free performance.
- To extend to the general public the opportunity to see classical and contemporary ballet in a community setting at a reasonable cost.
- To establish a professional ballet company based in Colorado Springs composed of ten to twenty technically strong and artistically accomplished dancers to perform a diverse repertoire including classical and contemporary works.
